“If u love Jabbar, leave Mandir, go to Masjid. Don’t worship Ram, worship Rahman”
Pakistan: Hindu woman being told benefits of conversion to Islam in Pak movie.
Hindu girl, lamenting for her Muslim lover Jabbar, who rejected her for her faith, is coaxed by her Muslim friend to abandon Bhagwan and His Mandir and accept ‘Rahman’ and his masjid. This has such a profound effect on the non-religious Hindu girl that she readily converts to Islam to win over her Jabbar.
Pakistan has always had a tradition of cinema that is specifically created not for entertainment but for influencing vulnerable minds. The portrayal of a Hindu man as a dark complexioned, cruel Baniya with an ugly mole and vile expression on his face, his heart and mind full of hatred for Muslims and his joker-like mannerisms intend to insult and demean the Hindus in every Pakistani movie. Adding to that, he would be having a bold and beautiful daughter, who would always be wearing revealing clothes and object to her father’s Muslim hatred, trying to educate him about innocence of Muslims.
A narrative has been set in Pakistan targeting Hindus, especially Hindu women, labelling temple visits as irrelevant, portraying them as indecent and cheaply dressed and always ready to entice and be available for all. On the other hand, a Muslim woman would always be covered from head to toe and firmly rooted in her faith. The Pakistani psyche puts the Muslims in juxtaposition with ‘shameless’ Hindu women, to bring them under Islamic fold and save them from Kuffar (Hindu faith), greatest sin of Buttparasti (idol-worship), behayayi (sin of wearing revealing, indecent clothes) and hell.
