Mirpurkhas, Sindh-
A Hindu minor boy Gulab Bheel (14) was tragically abducted, raped and murdered; his body later found dumped in nearby fields in Chaudhary Shamim Arayan in Mirpurkhas, Sindh.
Evidence of burn marks around his waist showed he endured brutal torture. Yet despite the horrendous nature of the crime, Pakistani police failed to identify any suspects. Gulab’s family and the local Hindus are calling for justice, criticizing law enforcement for their inaction and lack of urgency.
The case underscores a widespread societal insensitivity towards heinous crimes like rape and murder in Pakistan; these issues are often overlooked or dismissed by both the community and authorities. This indifference only deepens the trauma for the victim’s family and loved ones, specially since the religious minorities face unparalleled discrimination in every sphere of life.
Without a fundamental shift in Pakistani society’s mindset and behavior towards its religious minorities, these horrific crimes will persist, often ignored or concealed, leaving victims without justice and fostering a culture of silence and impunity, so openly evident in the Islamic nation.
Disclaimer: Due to state restrictions in Pakistan, independent follow-ups on such incidents are challenging.
