“…We destroyed Somnath Temple 17 times..we are proud of it…”

Umar Sharif, like many Pakistani artists and celebrities, has earned money in crores, while working in India. The Indian audiences showered their love and respect on him. But Sharif revealed his religious bigotry during a Pakistani show and was in glee whilst talking about the destruction of the Somnath Temple by Muslim invaders. When he appeared on an Indian comedy reality show, he mocked the Brahmins by claiming that a Muslim man (who played the character of a Hindu Pandit) took the name of Allah instead of a Hindu deity.

This Islamic historical hero of Pakistan had crossed all the limits of barbarism in his attack on Somnath. He not only plundered and looted the temple and razed it to ground but also killed every Hindu devotee present in and around the temple, while the Hindu women were abducted and made his concubines or sold off in the slave market. The typical Pakistani psyche considers Mahmud Ghaznavi and other Islamic invaders as heroes and the history textbooks hail them as champions of Islam, who brought lakhs of Hindus to the ‘true path of Islam’.
