Take a crash course on Khalistan from a Pakistani movie “”Sikhs rebel against India to protect a Muslim lover of a Sikh’s daughter. The Indian Army kills a Sikh whose last wish is the creation of Khalistan.”””

Pakistan: Sikh man displays hatred for India and love for Khalistan and Muslims in a Pakistani movie.

When a daughter of a Sikh falls in love with a Muslim, all the Sikhs come together to unite the 2 lovers, rebelling against the Indian army. The Sikh man reminds the Indians that India is safe because of Sikhs, or else the whole country would be drenched in blood. He refuses to hand over his Muslim guest to the Indian army, for the fear of losing the trust of Muslims. When the Indian army-man shoots him, his last words to his daughter are to write the name of Sikh country (Khalistan) on his clothes and expresses regret on trusting the Hindus (Indians).

Pakistan has long provided support to the Khalistani separatist movement, offering safe havens, training facilities and logistical assistance to militants. This includes smuggling arms and propaganda into Indian Punjab, fostering unrest in India. The support traces back to the 1971 Indo-Pak War, as highlighted by Sikh separatist leader Jagjit Singh Chohan’s tactics of seeking help from Pak PM Z A Bhutto and reinforced in Terry Milewski’s analysis of the global Khalistan project (2021).

Pakistani cinema subtly promotes the Khalistani agenda through narratives that romanticize Sikh-Muslim relationships and depict India and Hindus negatively. These films often frame Hindus negatively, sowing distrust and resentment, thus deepening divisions within Indian society.
