Fighting for Life
LOST HIS FATHER… NOW BATTLING TO SAVE SON-A PAKISTANI HINDU’S PLIGHT
That late afternoon, Mohan Singh (name changed) came home after cremating his father who had been killed in his hometown in Pakistan, when he heard about more killings, the same day. He started fearing for his family (mother, wife and 5 children) and had no choice but to leave everything and come to India. With heavy hearts and hope for a safe and better life and future in India, he and his family reached India. Since they had left everything, Mohan was under immense stress on how he would take care of his family. With help from Pakistan Untold (Jan Swabhiman-Agnikiran), he opened a small business. Mohan was determined to do whatever it takes to take care of his family and ensure that his children have a good future.
He and his family had barely managed to settle in their new ‘home’ and new life when his 7 year old son, Raju (name changed) suddenly fell ill. He was not eating and had become very weak; sometimes, he would feel difficulty in breathing. And those chills and shivering for hours together were another cause of worry for the family. Once, he injured himself, getting down from the bed. His mother applied turmeric paste and his father applied pressure on the wound but the bleeding just wouldn’t stop. They rushed him to the nearby doctor, who instructed the family to take him to a hospital. The serious expression on the doctor’s face and the urgency in his voice regarding taking the young child to a hospital sent a chill down the spine of Mohan. He hurried his son to the nearby Kalavati hospital (a public/government hospital). After a basic check-up and running some tests on Raju, Mohan and his family were given the biggest jolt of their lives. Their young Raju was diagnosed with STAGE 3 OF ACUTE LEUKEMIA (blood cancer).
He would have to be hospitalized and be under constant supervision of the doctors. He would also need rounds of blood transfusion. The blood would have to be arranged by Mohan for every round of transfusion. In hope of help, Mohan approached Pakistan Untold (Jan Swabhiman-Agnikiran). Immediately, our volunteers reached the hospital. Two of our members, Pawan Tomar and Ravi Thakur, immediately donated their blood for young child. Mohan had not been able to go to work, as he had to be constantly at the hospital, taking care of his son. Pakistan Untold (Jan Swabhiman-Agnikiran) is now taking care of the entire family till Mohan is able to reopen his shop.
The young child has to undergo several tests regularly and needs medicines and other medical facilities, along with nutritious food to help him win over this threat to his life. The young child and the family need your support. Any contribution can help the young Raju recover and go back to school, learn new skills, play with his friends and live life to the fullest and also bring happiness in the lives of Mohan and his family.
The child has to undergo several medical tests, costing approximately Rs. 3 lakhs, before being prescribed a particular course of treatment.
