Pakistan: Christian young girl killed by Islamist

Lahore-
A Christian young girl Neha, working as a Guest Services Agent-Front Desk at Pearl Continental Hotel, was brutally killed by Mohammed Arif, whose marriage proposal she had rejected. Neha’s tragic death highlights the dangers faced by religious minority women in Pakistan, who are often targeted by Islamists for their faith and gender.

Many young girls from religious minorities, like Neha, face persistent harassment and coercion, forcing them to abandon their careers and dreams to avoid further exploitation. Even those who try to pursue professional aspirations are not safe from threats and intimidation by Islamists seeking to impose their will.

Neha’s case underscores the systemic oppression of religious minority women in Pakistan, where career ambitions are often crushed by harassment and forced religious conversion. The lack of accountability and support from authorities makes it increasingly difficult for these women to lead empowered lives, further perpetuating cycles of fear and injustice.
