COURAGE DOESN’T ALWAYS ROAR

Bhagatram (name changed) knew the dangers and threats he and his family faced every day, as a Hindu living in Pakistan.  And the added threat was on his daughter and daughter-in-law.  So, at the first available opportunity, the entire family migrated to India in 2019 and settled in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.  Bhagatram, his wife and two young children, a son and a daughter, lived under one roof while his elder son lived separately with his wife and children, but near to his parents.

As the two families settled in their new homes, they received devastating news. Bhagatram had been diagnosed with liver cancer.  The families were barely able to make ends meet, how were they going to get their father treated?  The medical tests, the frequent trips to and from the government hospital in the city, medicines were an expensive affair for them.  They were starting to lose hope when they met Pakistan Untold (Jan Swabhiman-Agnikiran), who readily agreed to help them in every possible way.  Their lost hope turned into renewed courage when Pakistan Untold (Jan Swabhiman-Agnikiran) provided them with financial aid to take care of the expenses related to the treatment of Bhagatram.

Within 4 months, Bhagatram’s health started showing signs of improvement.  Bhagatram himself started feeling hopeful of recovery.  Courage doesn’t always roar; sometimes it’s the quiet voice whispering at the end of the day “I will try again tomorrow”. However, after initial improvement, Bhagatram’s health worsened and by the next few weeks, he lost his battle against cancer.

The elder son of Bhagatram has now taken the responsibility of his mother and other two siblings. They all live together and are working towards rebuilding their lives.  The courage with which Bhagatram fought against all odds to keep his family safe in Pakistan and his fight against cancer has taught them a very important lesson of putting up a courageous fight against every obstacle and threat.
