A PAKISTANI HINDU FATHER’S ORDEAL TO KEEP HIS DAUGHTERS SAFE

Seeing the smiles on the faces of his four daughters was the life’s mission of Manohar Das. However, in the deepest corner of his mind, he was under constant fear for the safety of his daughters.  Living in Sindh, Pakistan where, every day, there were numerous instances of minor girls and young women being kidnapped, subjected to forcible conversions and nikah slavery gave Manohar sleepless nights.

He needed to ensure the safety of his family and hence decided to move to India and started gathering money for the same.  He applied for passports and visas; however, his savings fell short of the amount (and the bribes) required for issuing passports to his family.

They entered India during the second ‘Covid’ lockdown and reached Haridwar, with very little money and hopes for a safe and good life here.

Worried for his family, Manohar decided to move to Delhi with his family. They reached a place near Signature Bridge in Delhi.  Manohar managed to find some stuff from here and there and built a small shelter-like structure for his family.

However, this ‘shelter’ could not protect them from the vagaries of cold weather or hot summers in Delhi.  Monsoons were a nightmare for them.

Slowly, this place started seeing an increase of refugee settlers and came to the notice of Pakistan Untold (Jan Swabhiman-Agnikiran).  He pointed out his new ‘home’ and requested them for help to build a better house for him and his family.

Pakistan Untold (Jan Swabhiman-Agnikiran) helped him build a house and assured him of every possible help to take care of his family.  Manohar’s mind is now at peace with regards to the safety of his daughters.
