Pakistan: Hindu minor girl abducted by Islamists

Untitled design - 2

Lyari, Karachi, Sindh-
Hindu 17 years old girl Priya Kumari was abducted by Islamists for forced conversion and nikah. Her desperate parents have been seeking help, but local police remain indifferent, highlighting the systemic apathy faced by religious minorities in Islamic Pakistan. Priya’s abduction is part of a larger pattern of targeting Hindu girls, often coerced into abandoning their faith and identity.

The Pakistani state, law enforcement and society are largely unresponsive to such cases, with police frequently siding with perpetrators or failing to take action. This indifference perpetuates a climate of fear, where Hindu families are powerless to protect their daughters.

Hindu girls are regularly targeted for their gender and religion, subjected to abduction, forced conversion and marriage to Islamists, with little regard for their consent or well-being. The lack of support from authorities and society leaves victims like Priya Kumari and their families in a constant state of distress and vulnerability.

Disclaimer: Due to state restrictions in Pakistan, independent follow-ups on such incidents are challenging.
