Pakistan: Hindu minor girl abducted for forced conversion and nikah by Islamist

Hindu 16-years old girl Poonam Meghwar was kidnapped and taken to a dargah in Samaroh (Sindh) where she was forcibly converted to Islam and married off to an Islamist, Ramzan Ali Khaskheli. Despite her Hindu family’s desperate efforts to retrieve her, the Maulana at the dargah refused to hand her over, leaving the parents helpless and crying outside.

This case reflects the increasing abduction and forced conversion of Hindu girls in Islamic Pakistan, a phenomenon driven by religious extremism. These girls are often married off to their abductors in an attempt to erase their identity and increase the Muslim population.

The state and law enforcement remain indifferent, turning a blind eye to such crimes, allowing perpetrators and religious heads to operate with impunity. This systemic neglect by authorities leaves Hindu families powerless to protect their daughters, perpetuating cycles of injustice and abuse.
